Hotel Snapshot: Free Coffee Outside The Chatwal
There is one particular trend @HotelChatter happens to quite enjoy: candid hotel photos. These pics range from stunning views to anti-views to celebrity tomfoolery and everything in between. The Chatwal has really loosened up over the past year. Despite its super-serious introduction to the world back in 2009, it has lately been keeping things simple with candy cigarettes and guess-the-number-of-balls contests.
We were definitely intrigued by The Chatwal's latest gimmick: free cups of Lambs Club coffee were given out on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, to passersby on 44th St. In the spirit of "giving," these hotel coffee fairies were suited up with Lambs Club-branded canisters strapped to their backs, and a twinkle in their eyes. No word yet on whether this will be a regular thing or not.
The hotel's generosity ended there, but we wondered: next time, if we guess the correct number of coffee cups attached to the canisters, can we also score a free room with our cup of joe?
Big thanks to tipster Mike, who sent in the above photo with the following caption: "In the past couple of years I have seen a lot [go] on at the Chatwal. I just think this is funny because the rooms go for $799 a night and the restaurant coffee goes for about $13 a cup."
We checked the menus, and while a cup of coffee at The Lambs Club doesn't go for quite that much (it usually hovers around $5), we get his point.
