Peninsula Hotels Want to Have the Best Hotel WiFi in the World

They've got helipads and helilounges, BMW Minis and even special macarons, but now Peninsula Hotels is making moves to have the best hotel internet network of all.

The big news comes from our buddies at Australian Business Traveller, who note that that first Peninsula to enjoy "gigaspeed Internet" and " 99.99% coverage – no dark spot or black spots" will be the Peninsula Beijing. Why China? Think about that for a second. China makes complete sense, though we admit we're surprised it's not their flagship property in Hong Kong getting all the special tech first.

There's no doubting that Peninsula gets the hotel WiFi game, perhaps owing to the fact they have an official geek on staff, but let's not forget Peninsula develops their rooms in secret bunkers somewhere outside of HK, perfecting every linen thread and lightswitch.

We recently experienced a bit of their detail OCD when we went to log onto the WiFi in a room at the Peninsula Bangkok. See our screenshot above—that's right, the room (#3302), has its own network, as does other rooms on the floor. BRILLIANT. This is the first time we've seen this, but sincerely hope it isn't also the last.
