These temporary digs may be just the solution to soaring rates and rooms booked far in advance, especially for those working the Games and forced to stay grounded in London for their duration. Capitalizing on those hard-pressed to find a place to stay next summer, All About Space plans on building rooms on-site for one "major outdoor events company" serving the Olympics.
Sadly these accommodations won't be open to the public, leaving others to battle it out for hotels averaging around £300 per night. We'll be keeping an eye out for more pop-ups serving the general public, whether as plush and artfully conceived of as the South Bank room-by-the-river, or as small scale and shabby as haphazardly pitched tents. More of the former, we hope.
