The Raleigh Hotel: It looks like one of our favorite spots on the beach is sold out for Basel--not surprising, considering it's home to an annual party that may just be the most popular of the week. That would be Beach Party hosted by Jeffrey Deitch and LA MOCA. If you don't snag an invite, just stroll past the back of the hotel along the public beach path to hear a DJ set by 2ManyDJs and performance by Soulwax. During the day, Architectural Digest is hosting a special VIP lounge here, so hustle your way in if you want to swap canvas talk for color-chart chat.
The Betsy Hotel: The pretty Ocean Drive hotel with the artsy bent hosts a party for Bollydoll, the creation of Indian-born, Los Angeles-based artist Amrita Sen. Bollydoll’s lightbox installation will be in B Bar and Timbaland will bring it with a live show. (Plans are for the roof deck of the hotel to go totally harem for an encore performance...). This may be a good spot to re-fuel up on caffeine to keep you going, too: the artist is sponsored by Illy.
We hear that the Shelborne will be debuting its extensive renovations, and flaunting some art stars during Basel and you should also watch for wealthy art collector action at The Setai, the cool kids at The Standard, and the fashiony/literary-art set at Soho Beach House.
And if you actually want to buy tickets to the official Art Basel Miami Beach fair, our sister site Jaunted has all the deets you need to know here.
