Miami's Most Wonderful Time of the Year is Almost Here

And we don't mean Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas or Kwanzaa, either. We're talking, of course, about Art Basel Miami Beach.

The bustling art fair and all its satellite events, exhibitions and packed-to-the-rafters parties takes place December 1–4, although the fun begins a few days before that, with the glam gallerist gang getting into town right after Turkey Day weekend.

As always, hotels are a hot-bed of Basel activity. This isn't the definitive guide, as venues are still finalizing their event deets, but here's a sampling of what's happening. We'll have more info on Basel happenings soon--as well as a last-minute room-rate check for the late-to-the-party art fans among you.

W South Beach: This is also a strong bet for star-spotting, thanks to owner, avid art collector Aby Rosen. This is where Bally is hosting its exclusive cocktail party to celebrate the launch of their BallyLove #2 collection with artist Olaf Breuning. Come for the fashion set sightings, stay for a meal at new resto The Dutch?

Mandarin Oriental Miami: The official hotel sponsor of satellite fair, Art Miami, MO Miami will host a Chinese art exhibition in the lobby from November 30–December 4. If you are (or want to meet) more of a deep-thinking, intelligent art lover, this is for you.

JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Miami: Too intimidated to ever walk into an auction house? Stroll into a hotel lobby instead, as the JWMM is hosting an exhibition from Christie's, including pieces that will be offered at auction in London in February. (So you can get a preview and impress your Brit pals with your art scoop.)

The Ritz-Carlton South Beach: Back on the beach, the Ritz-Carlton is hosting its Master’s Mystery Art Show, featuring more than 1,500 signed 6x9 works of art created by more than 300 artists from 31 countries. Buyers only find out the identity of the artist after they have purchased a piece. It kicks off with an invite-only party but then the show opens to the public for one day only: Thursday, December 1, from 12–7 p.m.

Delano Hotel (pictured): The hottest pop-up club in town, Le Baron, returns to The Florida Room (see it now, before it transforms into a brand new venue!) and there's also a poolside party with NYC gallery The Hole and a performance by Salem on Wednesday, November 30.

The Shore Club: Mallick Williams Gallery will be taking over Skybar and the Back Pool for the entire week, starting Monday, November 28.
