Welcome to our newest new feature, Design Thursdays! Thursdays are now our day to focus on hotel design through photo tours, video walk-throughs and interviews with hotel designers. Got a cool hotel design story we should know about? Let us know.

Ok, today's purpose of Design Thursdays is actually a Design Don't. We stayed at the massive MGM Grand in Las Vegas the other month and when we went to plug in our cellphone near the bed, we found this--a full up power outlet and an unsightly jumble of cords. Obviously, those cord controllers were not working.

We did find a free outlet on the other side of the bed but along the wall near the foot of the bed, making it impossible to keep our phone next to us while sleeping. The outlet was also a little loose.

The MGM Grand is undergoing major room renovations right now so we hope that more convenient outlet options--such as the one we love at Encore--are in the works.

Give 'Em A Retry!

I'm sorry that you had such a miserable time in Vegas. I personally thought that was impossible, but you learn something new every day. Myself? I would realize that the Hotels realizes that it needs to seriously update its accommodations to customers need (Not everyone used to carry their own Laptop, I-Pad, Cell Phone, what ever. And that it applies per person) But has waited to see which way the wind was blowing. You never know with technology these days and I have to side with the hotel here. Gutting, which is basically what they are doing, in order to update their wiring, to appease tech crazed fans of the world (including myself :D )So when you think about it, given the sharp decline in profit that the whole town is feeling, and I do mean decline in profits, this is a VERY risky proposition to take. So I say Kudos to the Hotel, and if you were unhappy, you should have called the front desk and given them a chance to rectify the situation. I mean it's not everyday they get a nosy, stargazer in the hotel that really gives a rats bum you know? People are there to gamble. I agree with all your points, in fact I would have added a few, probably,  if it were me ROFL!  But! And this is one STRONG Butt, I would have taken into consideration the fact that they were obviously under reconstruction and done the right thing. Call the front desk, explain your concerns, and at least let them have a REAL chance to help themselves in the treatment of their guests section at the very least. They aren't used to seeing ordinary people after all. Their usual Guests are quick turnovers, or Paris Hilton's. Kim Kardashiens or is that...never mind I can't spell either one, but I think you get my drift. So.  No, I have to disagree not only on the problems you described, but also on anything you tried to do to correct the problem. Remember folks, hotels aren't Beauty shops or sporting goods stores. They do not know what you want by looking at you. If you aren't very good at telling them, they may make a few suggestions and decide from that or just plain decide if they are pressed for time. Pressed for time doesn't mean that empty spot behind you lady! It's inside the billing office behind her. There was a billing error as well as a ...what am I telling you for? You're not an employee? Back to the room. So you see there are many reasons why YOU should hold YOURSELF responsible for your dissatisfaction as well, non? Had they not been doing construction I would have been a little easier on you, but would still have pointed these areas out as well, but with dual responsibilities. So, Have a GREAT CHRISTMAS (And yes I said Christmas. Who the heavens else' birthday have we been celebrating for 2000 years? Not MLK I can tell you that! ) so, once again, Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year! And, may you prosper and grow in Him.

As an aside, every race in the US, has a sacred, reverent,  BD for someone they felt was a great leader in their culture. Every Culture and Country in the world celebrates someone or G-d that they feel is worthy of their surrender to a higher power be it a man, animal, alien or just SOMETHING! Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Bob Marley. But primarily WHITE as well as Black, Asian, Native American, and other peoples in America, are being oppressed from celebrating the birthday of their chosen. God's son, Jesus Christ and acknowledge A l l a h as the only g-d?.  And the funny thing is, that this Christian belief is spread across the world from the rich to the poor, from the white to other races of people, and even in large pockets of peoples as well those  Right now being tortured and killed in their adamant belief and unwillingness to denounce Christ. Personally, as in the days of Christ, when people were also being killed for their belief in Him, they are no less safe today, perhaps even WORSE, today, and yet they STILL cling to Him. Is that not belief enough to fulfill any criteria  that the modern world may require in today's world, in supporting a PEACEFULL, Loving, giving and warmly established peoples around the world? To give them the right to peacefully gather in prayer and to worship, to do good works towards those less fortunate then themselves?  And finally, to celebrate the Birth of God's Son unto the world? A celebration that is also observed by other religions, peoples and even those who believe in nothing at all! His BD is not necessarily celebrated by all people everywhere for the same reason, however it is KNOWN WHY this celebration is conducted. That, and only that, is the purpose of Christmas. To celebrate His Birthday. And so, in ending this long discourse I should like to remind All Christians everywhere to please center your prayers on those Christians who are being held by Muslims everywhere, beaten and tortured daily in order to make them denounce Him and take up a marriage with a faulty deity. Let us lend our strength to endure, our faith to shield and our love to escort for the day is soon at hand.
