The sale--which has yet to close--pulls the resort out of bankruptcy, and according to the Sun Sentinel, Trump will "invest more than the purchase price to restore the property to 'its original health.'" That's a lot of Trump signature monogrammed towels!
Aside from five 18-hole golf courses, Doral is known as a big family-friendly resort--it has its own water park with a 125-foot Blue Monster waterslide, and the sprawling grounds include lakes where you can fish and paths to ride bicycles built for two.
While we're still disappointed that we didn't get to see a brand new Trump property in the FLL, we think this deal makes a whole lot of sense.
We just wish Trump would put some cash aside to spruce up the Trump Miami in Sunny Isles while he's focused on SoFla. The beachfront hotel has a lot going for it, but it's spa is looking dated and it needs a big-name restaurant or at the very least, an overhaul of Neomi's Grill to bring it up to par with the newer Trump properties in Soho, NYC, Chicago and Waikiki.
