'Golden Voice' Ted Williams Already Shacking Up in Luxury NYC Hotels

If you haven't watched/heard of the story about Ted Williams, the man with the "Golden Voice", you must must must must watch this video here.*

Then follow that up with this update on how his life has changed since being "discovered" including an appearance on the Today Show, a reunion with his mother who he has not seen in 20 years and a signed gig with Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.

Today as we were trying to track down the Manhattan hotel where he had the reunion with his mommy, we learned that Ted is already doing NYC baller-style, by staying at the Jumeirah Essex House on Central Park.

@KevJoy aka Kevin Joy, the Columbus Dispatch reporter who first wrote about Ted, tweeted that America's favorite homeless man was now shacking up at the five-star hotel. Amazing!

Although, there was one downer for Kevin Joy--no toothpaste. He tweeted:

In unimportant news, my room in Ted Williams' super-nice hotel doesn't have toothpaste. C'mon Essex House! Where's a Duane Reade?

Our thoughts exactly.

But not only is Ted Williams experiencing the finer side of New York while mulling job offers from around the country, he's also going to hit the party circuit. If this tweet is to believed, he's hosting a party at The Empire Hotel tonight at 63rd and Broadway.

Hmmm...five-star hotel stays, appearances on morning and late-night talk shows, job offers, Hollywood movie roles, and now hotel party hosting? We fear, like everyone in America fears right now, that this might be too much for Ted. Let's keep it simple to start. Maybe there is a nice hotel in Columbus where he can host a tea time?

*Seriously, we kinda hate watching viral videos on the internet, but this was one so worth it.

Toothpaste

OK, to be fair, there aren't many hotels that DO stock toothpaste in their rooms, as HC itself points out. Whether we're talking the Four Seasons George V in Paris or the Oriental in Bangkok...no in-room toothpaste. But it's not hard to dial up the front desk and have a tube rushed up to your room. I spent a night at the Essex House last year and did just that. If a lack of toothpaste is Joy's only complaint, then the hotel must've done something right...

You can always call for it, which is what we do most of the time. Still, it would be a nice touch in a luxury hotel. Aren't they supposed to anticipate our needs beforehand anyways?
