Whatever Happened To The St John Hotel in London?

The last we heard The St John Hotel had pushed back its opening from October to December 1. However its been over one month and the hotel still isn’t open. So what’s going on?

Well the hotel website says the hotel will "open soon” but if you try to book a room online the earliest date available is March 2nd.

However in a recent interview in the New York Times Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver, the team behind the hotel suggested it would open in late January.

So why the delay?

Well it seems that this was down to the building works as the team behind the hotel had underestimated the amount of work needed.

Through the years the building had developed its own extensions, corners and idiosyncracies, the truth was that it needed to be completely rebuilt and this is what has been done.

We just hope it's worth the wait, especially as the neighbouring W London hotel will open on February 14th. We wouldn’t want them opening on the same day, where’s the fun in that?

Room rates start at £200 a night but the cheapest rate we could find online was £240 for a post supper room.
