After last year's debacle with Charlie Sheen and a call girl, New York's famed Plaza Hotel really needed to start 2011 on a good foot and a visit from regular guest Lady Gaga may have been just the trick.

Gaga returned to the hotel's Oak Room last night to give stunned diners an impromptu performance. But she didn't really look like her normal Gaga self with a blonde wig in a normal hairstyle, overdone white face powder and bombshell eye make-up.

However, that bondage, Frank N. Furter-inspired dress is definitely all Gaga. And anyone who may has been skeptical that it was really her, had their minds changed when she started singing. The Daily Mail reports:

While the glitzy big-bucks People's Choice Awards took place in Los Angeles - where the singer was nominated Favourite Female Artist but was pipped by Katy Perry - Gaga joined her jazz musician friend Brian Newman on stage to show off her fine voice at a truly intimate gig.

She covered Nat King Cole's Orange Coloured Sky and George Gershwin's jazz standard Someone To Watch Over Me, which has been sung by the likes of Chet Baker, Rosemary Clooney and Frank Sinatra.

Since this is Gaga's second performance at the Oak Room, we'd say there's a pretty good chance she'll come back again. The key is knowing when her friend Brian Newman will be playing which is typically on Wednesday Nights. For tickets and reservations, go here.
