There will be no blackout dates when it comes to redeeming, and it won’t get in the way of you earning frequent flier miles or hotel points (if the hotel in question allows you to earn points through Expedia). Points will not expire as long as there is some activity on your account (ie spending money or redeeming points) every 18 months.
Rewards will include “airline tickets and hotel coupons valid on bookings at Expedia Special Rate properties”. According to View from the Wing, you will need a minimum of 3500 points to redeem.
As we said, the program is currently in a soft launch (hence they’re calling it Expedia Rewards Beta) but from the looks of the T&C page, it’s set to launch in full in March – that’s the date when you can start redeeming the points you accrued in the beta phase.
But already, although the website is touting it as invitation only, anyone can sign up on this page (scroll down to bottom left). Although you may want to hold off joining just yet, because according to View From The Wing, there’s a 1000 bonus point sign up deal somewhere in cyberspace. So unless you’re booking right now, you may want to hold off until it’s tracked down. That’s nearly a third of the way to your first reward, after all.
