London's St Pancras Renaissance Hotel Will Now Open March 14
The last we heard the St Pancras Renaissance London Hotel was due to open May 5th 2011. But we've now been told it will in fact open on 14th March 2011. Woot, a hotel that's opening nearly two months early!
However, we did quite like the fact it was opening on May 5th 2011, 138 years since the original opening – as the Midland Grand – on May 5, 1873. But we can’t be too disappointed as the hotel’s "grand opening" will still be on that date.
The hotel is set to become one of London’s most iconic hotels rivaling the likes of The Savoy and Claridge’s. It cost £150 million to renovate the buildingand many of its original features have been preserved including the staircase (pictured) which some people may recognize from the Batman movie or everybody will from The Spice Girls “Wannabe’ video.
The hotel will have 245 rooms including 38 Victorian suites and Barlow House, the new 120,000 square foot extension that will feature original artwork and contemporary design. We already knew about The Gilbert Scott restaurant and the hotel has released further details of the main restaurant--The Booking Office Bar & Restaurant--recreated in the original ticket office. The hotel will also have a private club, barber’s shop and luxury spa with swimming pool.
Bookings are being taken online from March 14 and at present the hotel are running a "Grand Opening" promotion with 25 percent off room rates. The cheapest rate we could find was £188 for a Barlow Double Room usually priced at £250. Not bad.
