The Night Now Belongs to Wyndham as Does The Dream
Some rather surprising news came across the wire yesterday afternoon---Wyndham Hotels announced that they would now be managing and franchising the Dream Hotels and the Night Hotels brands from Chatwal Hotels and Resorts.
That's right, Vikram Chatwal's boutique hotel brands now belong to Wyndham. Vik is nowhere to be found but his dad is still in the picture. From the press release:
Sant Singh Chatwal, chairman and chief executive officer of Chatwal Hotels & Resorts and its management arm, Hampshire Hotels & Resorts, said Wyndham Hotel Group will “take the development of the Dream and Night brands to the next level" by leveraging Wyndham’s global distribution system, Wyndham Rewards loyalty program and extended reach of development professionals. Chatwal Hotels & Resorts will continue to own the Dream and Night brand trademarks and intellectual property.
Currently, we're still awaiting the opening of two new Dreams--The Dream South Beach and The Dream Downtown but it looks like the Night brand, based off the Night Hotel in NYC, will get the first dibs under Wyndham.
The plans are to develop the Night brand in primary and secondary markets and position it as an "affordably chic" hotel option with a ground floor "living area", quick-serve food and beverage options, discounts for green motorists with hybrid and electric cars and guests deejays in lounges. Hmm...sounds a lot like this brand and this brand. And just a little bit like this brand.
No word on where the first, er, second Night Hotel by Wyndham will be but we're genuinely curious to see this roll-out. Right now, it seems like a win-win--Night and Dream get to expand their presence and Wyndham finally gets some hotel cool.
