This being early September, the crowds weren't bad at all but there was an occasional rain shower to deal with. That's what the indoor pool is for! But we do hear that in the peak summer season, getting a chair might be a struggle.
The hotel also requests that you hand over your SBM card (different from the room key) to receive towels which we found a little annoying. But the poolside snacks kept us happy. Yes, there were definitely children abound but the pool area is big enough that you can escape most of them.
A way to avoid children and other annoybots is to rent one of the Love Seats which come with snacks, champagne, magazines, chilled towels and a fully-loaded MP3 player to use for the day. Sounds heavenly but the cost is 300 Euros a day. We made do with the 12 Euro smoothies instead.
All in all, we spent two full days lounging poolside and even though we were in fabulous, glitzy Monte Carlo, being pool bums was the highlight of our visit. What, is that bad?
