It's a busy fall in Miami, with openings including Soho Beach House and the JW Marriott Marquis. But the only new hotel opening right in the heart of all the Ocean Drive action is Hotel Breakwater. Unfortunately, we now have to wait until January 1 before we can stay the night.

Originally scheduled to open in September and then October, the hotel should be in soft opening stage around Thanksgiving, but it officially opens its doors on New Year's Day.

The good news is you can start planning your winter escape now, because the online reservation system is open for business over at the hotel's sexy new website.

Breakwater promises a "chic and sexy and unfiltered individuality" for its guests, and the clean room design reminds us somewhat of the Gansevoort Miami Beach. Which ain't such a bad thing since that hotel--located further up the beach near 24th Street--is in the midst of an identity crisis, leaving the Gansevoort Hotel Group fold but keeping its name (for now).

Breakwater isn't near as big as the Gansevoort, but its smaller size is what its Jordache owners hope will keep it more intimate than insane.

Room rates start at $399 a night, which is for a Superior Room, with either garden or city views. You want ocean views? That'll be around $519 a night.

This sounds steep, we know, but you can see those windows in the photo up top, right? Expansive Atlantic Ocean views don't come cheap.

To help you plan your beach getaway, Hotel Breakwater is offering 15% of all room rates for HotelChatter readers--all you have to do is enter promo code CHATTER when you book online to snag the discount.

Is this?

Nikki Hilton's "Nicky O" nightmare?  I think it is.  Wasn't this going to be a Jordache Hotel or something?

Yes, but no more Nicky

Indeed it was going to be the Nicky O once upon a time but she hasn't been involved for awhile.

It is owned by Jordache, though. They have a few other Miami hotels in the works (and are also in commercial real estate). Not just jeans!
