The W London is on track now for a February opening which leaves it plenty of time (we hope) to finish up construction.
We popped by the hotel, in Leicester Square, and decided to check in on the progress. Much of the bottom level is boarded up and we doubt any rooms are finished but there does seem to have been some solid work on the hotel's glassy exterior. Of course, it's not enough progress to make us happy. We really wish this hotel was still opening next month.
But perhaps when it does open in February, Leicester Square will have calmed down a bit.
When we were there, the area was positively mobbed with tourists--Leicester Square is, after all, very much like Times Square. And when a movie premiere happens at the Odeon movie theater next door, the W will be very much in the thick of the action.
Which is probably what the W wants but will discerning W loyalists want to put up with the crowds? That remains to be seen.
