Watching The Pirates Play Ball From The Fairmont Pittsburgh
We are suckers for a room with a killer view. We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.
Don't you love cities where the sports stadiums are right downtown? It makes getting to the game easier and creates a much stronger sense of camaraderie among the fans. If the city is Pittsburgh, it also means you can get a great view of the ball park from your room at the Fairmont Pittsburgh.
During our stay last weekend, our room was on the other side of the building, facing Mount Washington. Which is also a pretty view. But we snapped this shot from the floor-to-ceiling window in the elevator bank area on the 17th floor.
If you ask for a Deluxe View Room with a view of PNC Park, you too could watch the lights shine on the Allegheny River and hordes of loyal Pirates fans stroll over the Roberto Clemente Bridge, which is closed to traffic on game days.
We'd actually be way more excited if we had a view of Steeler Nation at Heinz Field, but apparently it's near impossible to get a hotel room on Steeler game days, anyway. And regardless of the Pirates' skills, PNC Park is one of the prettiest stadiums in the country.
Unfortunately, their last games of the season are in Florida, but keep this Killer View in mind for next year. Perhaps the Pirates will improve over the off-season, eh?
