Bill Marriott and Ian Schrager's First Hotel, The Waikiki Edition, Will Open Tomorrow
The hotel's The Ilikai's (the building next to Edition) walkway to the beach. Yeah, we know. We're working on getting a room shot too! Update: We've got them here!
The long-awaited day is practically here! Waikiki Edition, the very first Edition Hotel from hoteliers Bill Marriott and Ian Schrager, will now open its doors tomorrow, September 28. Even better, rooms are still a reasonable $195 a night. So if you're in Honolulu and want to try something brand-spanking new, make your reservation now.
Yet still, there are no photos on the hotel's website, just renderings. We don't fully understand this. Why wouldn't they want to show off this supposedly genius new hotel brand? However, in the WSJ's new weekend section, Off-Duty, we did see a small thumbnail shot and we can say, the rooms with ocean views will be gorgeous. But we really couldn't assess much after that.
So we did a little bit more research and we found that the hotel's sushi restaurant, Morimoto from Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, had a Family and Friends dinner the other week, meaning several peeps have had an inside look (and taste) at the restaurant.
You can check out some photos of Morimoto here on Flickr. Sadly, there aren't any real hotel shots. Hopefully, those will start rolling in tomorrow. HINT, HINT.
UPDATE: The Waikiki Edition only has the $195 intro rates until October 15, meaning you have to book that rate by then but it is good for stays through February 28, 2011. After October 15th, the room rates will start at $375. Another reason to book now!
Got any pictures or opening day scoop about the hotel and what's inside? Send it to us...please!
