Claridge's Suits Up with a New Paul Smith Boutique
London Fashion Week may have just ended, and the "Fash Pack" of editors, celebrities and photographers may have moved on to the runways of Milan, but that doesn't mean that London's shows are quickly forgotten. British designer Paul Smith, best known for his creative, yet proper, approach to men's suiting has just opened a jewelbox of a womenswear store, and it's nestled inside the swank Claridge's Hotel in the Mayfair neighborhood.
Claridge's is perfect for it, since they are far more fashion-happy than your average luxury hotel. Last Christmas, their lobby Christmas tree was a custom tree by John Galliano for Christian Dior design, and the hotel has just unveiled a complement of Diane Von Furstenberg-designed suites.
The Paul Smith Women's store is also an expression of Sir Paul Smith's personal love for the hotel, since he usually shows his collections in the ballroom and always stays here with his family over New Year's. According to WWD, the interior works with the design of the hotel, with "pink-and-white candy-striped wallpaper, pale oak parquet floors and delicate Murano glass chandeliers, which date from the Thirties."
Male guests are welcome to stop by as well, since the store hasn't neglected them. Small leather goods and men's gift items will be available...or they'll be happy to direct you to the nearest Paul Smith shop in London.
