Meanwhile, Not Too Far From the Soho Grand....

You know the scene. You open the door to your brand new hotel room, run over to the window, open the blinds and bam, you are hit with the anti-view. Maybe you are looking down a dirty alley, witnessing a drug deal, staring at an air shaft in the face, or seeing a brick wall. Whatever you are viewing it is not extremely pleasurable. ...we had this view from room 306 at the Duane Street Hotel in Tribeca, approximately a four-minute cab ride away from the luscious suites at The Soho Grand.

Sure, this is New York and we could be staring at a brick wall or a dirty air shaft. We're probably lucky that we have a view at all, especially for the rate we paid of $159 a night. But still, the odd assortment of shops on Church Street (wide feet shoes and Domino's anyone?), which looked closed most of the time, had us a bit depressed. Maybe our next series should be Hotels Under $200 with Killer Views of Manhattan. Any suggestions?
