Spot the difference! These two bars may look similar when you zoom in solely on the rows of bottles—and they may share a street just off Times Square—but that, drinkers, is where the similarities end.

The bar on the left? The Lambs Club Bar at The Chatwal New York. On the right, we have Jimmy's Corner, a beloved dive full of boxing memorabilia and a jukebox loaded with soul classics.

So where should you drink when you find yourself thirsty in Times Square?

Fans of the soon-to-close Rum House at the Edison Hotel will no doubt find kindred spirits at Jimmy's.

The mix is more varied than you'd expect. Given its location, it's livelier than your average old-man bar (welcome, unsuspecting tourists!) and we like New York magazine's description of the crowd as "a heady mix of Times Square regulars and media slummers."

It's still early days for The Lambs Club Bar but, with Conde Nast and all those cashed-up companies headquartered in Times Square around the corner, we expect the Chatwal's Deco-dent spot to attract the opposite of a media slummer, whatever that may be.

Not that you have to choose—sometimes we like our drinks fancy and sometimes we like them cheap. You'll no doubt find us at both these joints as the fall gets underway.

But here's a tip: if you've splashed out on a room at The Chatwal, and you just can't bare the thought of parting with a twenty for one cocktail with tip, pop two doors down to Jimmy's. There you'll get two beers and a vodka for just 10 bucks.

You're welcome. Happy Labor Day weekend!
