The Mandarin Oriental Paris is Rising...We Think
September 15, 2010 at 11:01 AM
UPDATE: Mandarin Oriental tells us the hotel will open in 2011 and that chef Thierry Marx will bring his award-winning cuisine to the hotel then.
Two years ago we learned that the Mandarin Oriental Paris would open on the luxe Rue St. Honore in 2010. Well, it's 2010 and we wandered by the hotel last week only to find this. Whatever that is.
Over on the MO website, this is all that was listed for the City of Light:
Mandarin Oriental has reached agreement to manage a 138-room luxurious palace hotel in Paris. Located on the prestigious rue Saint Honoré, in the historic and fashionable centre of Paris, the hotel will encompass 138 spacious and luxuriously appointed rooms, an extensive choice of dining options, a signature Mandarin Oriental Spa and an expansive inner courtyard.
No opening date listed. Boooo.
Still, other luxury hotels in Paris should start to get nervous about the Mandarin Oriental's arrival, whenever that may be, as the brand is well-loved amongst deep-pocketed international travelers who think nothing of $600+ room.
But until the MO opens, you're next best bet for luxury hotel (with free internet!) is the forthcoming Shangri-La Paris, opening this December. Hmm...we smell a duel!
Know what's happening with the Mandarin Oriental in Paris? Give us the scoop! Merci!
