While the white hot heat for Foursquare shows no sign of cooling off, competing location-based social media app, Gowalla, is not giving up.

After a brief lackluster partnership with IHG Hotels, Gowalla has now teamed up with Four Seasons Hotels in California. Through the FS concierges, Gowalla has created "Best Of" destination itineraries that are available to Gowalla members during their FS hotel stays.

Aside from having a guide to show them around the area, including must-visit sites, restaurants, shopping, etc, there's also an incentive. When members check into three of the recommendations from Four Seasons on Gowalla, they will earn a $100 spa or dining credit which can be redeemed during their stay.

Here's how it works:

To participate, Gowalla Passport holders need only “check in” using their smart phone upon arrival at any Four Seasons in California (we've listed them below under "Hotel Reviews".) Then, they will be prompted to “follow” Four Seasons for access to the curated “Best Of” trips, which will appear in the “Trips” tab on their phones. After “checking in” to three spot recommendations, a custom “pin” can be shown at the hotel’s front desk to redeem a spa or dining credit.

The offer from Four Seasons and Gowalla is only available through November 19 and it's only available at the Four Seasons Hotels in California. Now, it seems like a teeny bit of work but if you plan on exploring the local area anyways, you can at least earn a nice little reward upon return to the hotel. We're thinking massage over entrees, definitely!
