Since then, we've giggled over the hotel's Dickensian doormen uniforms slated for the winter, speculated about chef David Burke heading up the signature restaurant and bemoaned the littleness of the rooftop pool.
But we were impressed by the eco-chic design that makes the best of the small rooms, and love the fact that these peekaboo bathrooms at least come with pretty privacy screens.
We also loved the views from the hotel's rooftop—but don't expect to see these if you're checking in early. The outdoor spaces, including the pool, rooftop bar and urban garden, won't open until early October.
Don't forget: if you stay at The James, we want to hear all about it! Send us an email or leave your thoughts on New York's newest hotel in comments below.
