The Shangri-La Hotel in London is Rising
The London hotel scene continues to be hot and it's going to continue burning up through the 2012 Summer Olympics. Today we've got a sneak peek at the new skyscraper going up, The Shard London Bridge (keep your giggles in check), which will actually house the Shangri-La London, set to open in 2012.
The hotel will be located on floors 34-52 (out of 72) and will include a massive double-height lobby with "uninterrupted" views of London. (We're thinking it's akin to a Mandarin Oriental sky lobby.) An indoor infinity swimming pool with views of the London skyline and a spa will also be opened on the higher floors as will a specialty restaurant, lobby lounge and bar.
The hotel will even introduce something new for their food and beverage options- a "food theatre," a sort of café with a choice of multiple cooking stations. It will probably be similar to the Todd English Food Hall at The Plaza.
Inside the 195 guest rooms, we can expect to find the Shangri-La bed with its patented body-contouring technology, designer LCD TVs, "hi-fi" equipment and the all-important Shangri-La standard of free WiFi. Hmm...we know this place will cost and arm and a leg but we can't help but ask--is it 2012 yet?
