Apologies, the video is a little shaky at the start but we promise it's worth it.
Between its ongoing construction delays and its yo-yoing high room rates, we've had a lot to say about The Chatwal New York. Now, after our first visit to the hotel since it was still a work-in-progress, we can bring you pictures to back up all those words.
Our first impression when we walked into the Deco-decadent lobby and strolled the ocean-liner-like hallways was: we forgot to wear our slinky silk gown and flapper bob. We're huge fans of '20s decor and The Chatwal has totally aced this.
We'll have more photos of the lobby, bar, and Lambs Club restaurant for you tomorrow, but for now, sit back, pop a record on your gramophone, and enjoy a stroll back in time to when people had manners, details mattered, and hotels didn't have peekaboo bathrooms.
Just prepare yourself for a futuristic toilet—we're pretty sure massaging Toto units weren't around in the Jazz Age...
