After yesterday's surprising news about The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas joining Marriott's Autograph Collection, we've learned of another surprising addition to the group--The Algonquin, one of New York City's oldest hotels.

Check out this page on the Autograph site--it says "Opening in September." We're guessing when this all goes down the hotel will be slotted into Autographs' Iconic Historic category.

When we hit up the Algonquin's site, everything looked like business as usual except Algonquin was announcing their entrance into the Autograph Collection. Guests will even have a chance to earn an extra 2,500 Marriott rewards points per stay from September 14-November 27.

Room reservations have also been transferred to the Marriott booking system and they remain rather steep at $500 a night. Hopefully, being connected to Marriott will give the Algonquin a boost in bookings. We know things can't be easy on Hotel Row! We just hope Marriott keeps their paws off the house cat, Matilda. That's our gurrrl!
