Developers of the project, M.A. Mortenson Co., hope to begin construction in December, with the hotel scheduled to open in 2013.
Renderings that were submitted to the city of Bloomington in June (with Renaissance signage still in place) indicated that the hotel would have extensive meeting space, a restaurant, gym, spa, and second-floor skyway connection to the mall.
Because shuttle buses are just so common, after all.
Speaking of lowbrow travel entertainment, Radisson already has a hotel—in a waterpark!—nearby, in the Radisson Hotel Bloomington By Mall of America. But if that's your idea of a good time, book fast: the water park will be closed for maintenance from September 7 through 23.
