We've got a thing for cute hotel animals here and we've long covered the animals hard at "work" in hotels such as Kimpton Hotels Directors of Pet Relations and even The Algonquin's fashionable housecat, Matilda. But the dog in residence at the Hyatt Regency Newport in Rhode Island might be the hardest working hotel dog in the biz.

That's because Schimitty, a Yorkshire Terrier, delivers the news with Meteorologist and ABC Producer Ron Trotta. Ok "delivers" might be too strong of a word has Schmitty just hangs out while Ron gives the weather report but if you watch the video above, you can see Schmitty has some pretty funny thoughts.

All summer long Schmitty and the hotel's other resident Border Collie Darby are hosting "Mutt Mixers" on the outdoor deck where pets and pet parents can socialize and listen to pet experts sound off on topics from training tips to nutrition. Guests can also indulge in a Salty Dog drink--a rim-salted Greyhound with gin instead of vokda--while dogs sip on a "Doggie Brew" beer (don't fret, it's not alcoholic.)

The hotel's location right on the water overlooking Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay offers up some spectacular views for you and Fido to enjoy. However, it does come at a premium--room rates start around $400 a night in peak season which is now.

Bringing your best friend along to socialize will also cost you an extra $75 so long as he or she is under 75 pounds. Also according to BringFido.com, your room will most likely be one of the smoking rooms but on the convenient first floor. The things we do for our pets!
