That's the hotel in the back there; the cute neighborhood in the foreground is Xintiandi
In order to attract the glitterati away from the aforementioned Bund where the newly opened Peninsula sits, the Langham is breaking out the "destination spots":
These include a lifestyle bar – XTD Elevated - set on a terrace overlooking Xintiandi complete with cabanas and day beds for lounging and Ming Court - serving a gourmet’s choice of Cantonese and Shanghainese specialities. Meanwhile, Cachet – an innovative concept introducing five stylish experiences in one distinctive space will touch the senses from dawn until the early hours. These include a lounge for the perfect signature Langham afternoon tea, a Café for international culinary dining, a Juice Bar for a refreshing pick-me-up, a Martini Bar for an evening tonic and Alfresco – an outdoor terrace to see and be seen.
Oh yes, and there will be a pool. A 25-metre indoor pool, so it's actually nowhere near the cabanas mentioned above.
The hotel is already accepting reservations for stays starting from October 1, 2010. They've got a soft-opening special right now for 1,865 Yuan ($275) per night even though the "best available" is showing 1,700 Yuan ($251), so best to go with that.
