The Dutch Team Gets a Late Check-Out from Hilton

Not expecting to advance to the semi-finals, Team Netherlands only booked their hotel rooms at the Hilton Hotel in Sandton until July 5. Reports were buzzing today that the Dutch team was "homeless" on the eve of their match against Uruguay since the hotel was now fully booked.

But while the boys are set to face off in just a few minutes, fans of The Oranje can relax knowing that the hotel has allowed the team to stay through July 9, provided things go their way today.

Most World Cup teams do not book their hotel stay through the final stages of the tournament partly because they may not want to jinx themselves but also because the final match may take place in a different city from their hotel. Once the final teams are determined, the players and coaches will move to a "venue-specific team hotel", according to FIFA.

Whoever makes it to the finals, we hope they get some plush accommodations. While the Hilton sports some modern rooms and a rather large pool area, the fitness center looks tiny. It's a far cry from the plush digs where the England team holed up. But then again, this place probably isn't cursed.
