The Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour: Soon to be a ParkRoyal Hotel.

If you were a youngster in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta in the '90s, the Park Royal was your first port of call for hotel fun. Conveniently located near a strip of clubs and restaurants, it was the place to go for birthday parties, after parties, any party at all out in the 'burbs. Over time it lost the Park Royal name and became better known as a business hotel. But just like flannel shirts and Axl Rose, the Park Royal is coming back to stoke Parramatta's nostalgia!

At the moment, it's the Crowne Plaza Parramatta, but as part of Pan Pacific Hotels' entry down under, it will turn back into a ParkRoyal in November.

Pan Pacific will also rebrand two other Australian hotels: the Crowne Plaza Darling Harbour will become the ParkRoyal Darling Harbour in November, and over on the other side of the country, the Sheraton Perth will turn into the Pan Pacific Perth in January 2011.

Like the Parramatta property, the ParkRoyal Darling Harbour is well situated for nighttime fun. It's right next to the Imax/club/restaurant hub there on Darling Harbour and is just a short walk from the CBD.

Meanwhile, as one of the few high-end options in Perth, the Sheraton has long hosted rock stars and rich peeps, and also wowed one of our contributors with its attentive service not so long ago. We hope it continues to bring its game as a Pan Pacific.

As for us? We're busy trying to find our bodysuit and matte lipstick so we can relive our coming-of-age years by popping into the ParkRoyal Parramatta for a pre-club cocktail or three. Welcome back, PR!
