Thompson Toronto to Remain the New Kid in Town a Little Bit Longer

The Ritz-Carlton Toronto, with the CN Tower reflected on its facade.
It looks like the Thompson Toronto will enjoy the rest of the summer, knowing that it's still the newest hotel in town.
The Le Germain's Hotel Maple Leaf Square was supposed to open in August but now its fully fleshed out website is saying Fall 2010. Similarly the Ritz-Carlton Toronto near the Thompson on Wellington Street has been pushed back just slightly to late Fall 2010.
While we're awaiting more news on the Le Germain (which will be the brand's second hotel in Toronto), the Ritz has put forth a detailed construction update here. And it turns out that some construction woes have caused the delay:
Construction of The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto was slightly delayed last month by a weather-related challenge with the roof installation. The higher than normal wind speeds we experienced this Spring created unsafe conditions for installing the glass rooftop. As a result of this delay, we have moved our opening date from Summer to late Fall 2010.
When the hotel does open, it will 267 guestrooms starting at 450-sq.ft. and decked out with Frette linens, floor to ceiling windows, heated flooring, 42" flatscreen TVs with a smaller one embedded in the bathroom mirrors and complimentary coffee, tea and bottled water daily. We've got the tingles already!
