'Mr. W' at the W London is Keeping Us Entertained...For Now
Mr W takes his show on the road to Wireless
Seeing as a) the W Leicester Square has pushed back its opening date to February and b) we’re impatient types, we’ve been getting our W fixes from its Facebook page, and found ourselves getting more and more fixated on the mysterious “Mr W” who runs it.
Sod the titillating pictures of the hotel under construction – as well as that, he’s carving out an entire personality for himself and the hotel along the lines of @standarde or Stan D’Arde, the Standard hotel group’s imaginary but still dapper Twitter persona.
In recent weeks, we’ve heard about Mr W getting his moustache shaved off at Glastonbury, hitting the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park and developing an unsightly “farmer’s tan”. All good images.
Right now, he’s busying himself with hotel stuff, like ordering a shower big enough for four, and a 90-inch TV for the bathroom. Nice! But not as nice as the disco ball in his profile pic.
All in all, Mr W is making us look forward to the opening when it finally happens, and saving us from total frustration that it hasn’t gone ahead so far. We’re very indebted to him. Now if only he could get a Twitter account, we’d be even happier. Oh and no more delays, Mr. W, mmkay?
