Just like dogs and cats, hotel pet policies and packages come in a variety of breeds. It can be hard to stand out from the pack. (Ha. OK, enough with the doggy puns.) But the Hard Rock Hotel Chicago's pet package caught our eye, not because of its rock-dog name—the Party Like a Rottweiler Pet Package—and not because of the usual poop bags, toy, and dog bowl amenities either. Nope, it's the pet cam that has us intrigued.

If you're going to leave your dog in your room when you go out, you may borrow the hotel's pet cam free of charge, you see—and access the video feed from wherever you go, on your laptop, iPhone or other handheld device.

Even though our dog is pretty well-behaved in hotels, we still worry about her when we pop out of our room. Is she jumping up and down on the bed? Burying a bone underneath the 1000-thread-count pillow slips?

The pet cam option is also ideal for anyone who suspects their dog of raiding the mini-bar or racking up room service charges for endless platters of raw steak.

If you don't fancy your very own version of reality Animal Planet when you leave your room, the hotel can also arrange for dog walking, sitting, or doggy daycare.

Best of all, the Hard Rock doesn't want to gouge us for loving our dog—the pet fee here is a reasonable $25 a night + tax on top of your room rate.
