The Four Seasons Nevis closed back in October 2008 after Hurricane Omar tore through St. Kitts and Nevis islands. The hotel had hoped to reopen in February 2009 then again in November 2009 but the tough economy forced the property to stay closed until things got better.

Well, things must be better now as the resort is planning to open on December 15. Even better the hotel's website is already accepting and confirming reservations for that date. We found rooms for $345 USD for a deluxe mountain side room which offer partial views of Nevis peak and the nearby old sugar mill. Rooms also promise loveseats, a balcony or patio, deep soaking tubs and marble dining tables for two.

However, the details on the renovations and room enhancements are still under wraps for now so we're not exactly sure what these rooms will look like. But we do expect the 196-room resort and its golf, tennis, spa and kids facilities to be better than ever. And just in time for the winter getaway season too!

We'll keep you posted on the renovations details as we get 'em but if you have your own scoop or if you have questions about the resort, let us know in comments below.

Booking rooms means nothing...

Almost two and a half years ago, when the hotel was still closed, but announcing an opening dat in early 2009, my husband and I booked our honeymoon at FS Nevis.  A few weeks before the wedding (June 2009), we received a call from our travel agent that she had spoken to someone from corporate and they weren't going to be open (though they didn't bother to tell us that the hotel was still going to be closed).  If we had booked on our own, who knows what would have happened.  In any event, we rebooked with the RC in the Caymans, but at that time, FS was still taking reservations for rooms IN JUNE.  So readers beware, just because they are booking rooms doesn't mean the hotel will actually be open.
