Oh, what people will do for a burger. This was the scene yesterday outside the brand spankin' new InterContinental Times Square. But these folks weren't waiting on line to book a room at the hotel—they were hungry for a Shake Shack burger.

The latest outpost of the cult burger chain is not officially part of the IC Times Square (the hotel is Shake Shack's landlord), but the two shared an opening date yesterday, and both seem equally popular: some of these peeps waited 40 minutes for a burger, and it looks like most of the hotel's rooms are sold out for its first couple of weeks in business.

Guests who did snag a room at the hotel should be happy that Shake Shack is right downstairs—because the hotel's Todd English restaurant, Ça Va is not quite ready.

Initial plans did have the ground-floor brasserie opening on the same day as the hotel, but when we called to check on its status this morning, we were told that Ça Va would not open until July 19.

Of course, room service is available 24 hours a day in the meantime, and there's always Shake Shack if you've got a spare 40 minutes to kill.

This being Times Square, you won't exactly starve if neither of those options tickle your tastebuds— but if you're craving a Cassoulet of Duck Confit with Pork Sausage and Merguez—one of English's signature Ça Va dishes—you'll have to wait at least another week.

Hey, at least you won't have to stand on the street to get it.
