Now You Can Earn Virgin America Points at JDV Hotels

Great news for all you Virgin America junkies. The California-based airline has partnered with California-based hotel chain Joie De Vivre Hotels to offer guests both frequent flyer points and Joy of Life points with every hotel stay until the end of the year.
Here's how it works: When you stay at a JDV Hotel, for every eligible $1 spent on the hotel room rate, you will earn one Elevate point (Virgin America's frequent flyer program) as well as one Joy of Life Club point, the hotel's own loyalty program. Then starting in 2011, members will have to designate which program they want to earn points for. (Given the amount of flying we do, we'll probably pick Elevate.)
Just remember, that "eligible" dollars do not include the following: Bookings made by an agent or third-party, such as tour operators, or bookings made via a third-party channels, including but not limited to, expedia.com, hotwire.com, orbtiz.com, and travelocity.com, group bookings, airline crew and/or contract rates, employee rates, complimentary rates, and friends and family rates.
Fortunately, JDV hotel rates are never that out of a budget's reach and they often have sales, specials, and advance booking deals to take advantage of.
Practically de rigueur these days is to celebrate new partnerships with a Twitter contest and that's exactly what VA and JDV have done here. The two are kicking off a contest for a roundtrip flight to either San Francisco or Los Angeles from anywhere Virgin America flies and a two-night stay in a JDV Hotel in California. Official entry details are below:
To enter, tweet your idea of the “perfect match” using the #JoieDeVX hashtag to the airline that’s been turning heads. Virgin America will select their favorite answer to win. For full contest details, visit http://www.virginamerica.com/social-media/contests/joiedevx/index.html.
Just in case you weren't sure, Virgin America flies to San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Washington D.C., Seattle, Las Vegas, San Diego, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Toronto and starting in the fall of 2010 – Orlando, followed by Cabo and Cancun in winter 2010/2011.
