For the rest of the week, we'll be focusing on the latest news out of Londontowne. Got a hotel we should check out or know of any tawdry London hotel scoop? Or better yet, got the skinny on where all the WAGs hang out? Tip us off.

It seems Park Plaza Hotels have quite a fight on their hands with their proposed East London art’otel london hoxton.

Park Plaza had planned to demolish The Foundry to build an 18-storey, 350-room hotel and retail complex housed in a diamond shaped building. But they clearly underestimated the public’s attachment to the venue in Shoreditch, East London. The Foundry was a well loved centre for music, art and design with a strong following and even has its own Banksy. Park Plaza have assured the concerned community that art scene will stay put thus the art’otel. (There's already a few art'otels in Europe if you want to check them out.)

Work should have already started on the hotel but it seems the group of squatters have other ideas.

HotelChatter happened to be in the area and managed to take a photograph of the demonstration site the other week. It seems the squatters have an issue with room prices which will start from £100 per night, although when you’re used to free, any price no matter how low is going to be a blow!

Earlier this month the squatters were issued a court order demanding they leave, but it seems this has only made them more determined to stay. Even hosting their own events inside the building.

This won’t be the last we hear on this story so watch this space for more updates. But if all goes well for art'otel, this joint should open in 2013.
