High Tea Is Hotting Up Brisbane's Emporium Hotel

You may have noticed that we're quite fond of Hotel High Tea here at HotelChatter, having sampled little sandwiches and cups of tea at the finest properties in cities such as London and New York. But this week we discovered that the historic art of tea-taking is also a hot trend in the rather modern city of Brisbane, Australia, courtesy of the Emporium Hotel.
The three-year old boutique hotel in the funky Fortitude Valley area of Brissy has a hit on its hands with its new Cocktail Bar High Tea Menu, with local ladies of all ages flocking in with pinkies raised to enjoy a cuppa and a good ol' gossip around a cake tray.
The menu ranges from a traditional high tea with ribbon sandwiches, petit fours and a selection of Twining's teas to the more decadent
Hendrick's High Tea, which includes two Hendrick's cocktails served in these 'Tea Cup' martini glasses, cucumber and ribbon sandwiches, petit fours, and a range of Twining's. The traditional version is AUD$35 per person and the Hendrick's High Tea is $65 per person.
Bookings are essential but you don't need a big party--the hotel caters to groups of two to 60. For more information, email: events@emporiumhotel.com.au.
Sadly, we were rolling solo during our visit to the Emporium, and didn't get to give our pinkies and tastebuds a High Tea workout. But we did enjoy a flat white coffee at the Emporium Hotel Cocktail Bar, and can also recommend the Beer Battered Prawns with Guacamole.
