Welcome to the Waikiki Edition!

Ok, our brains might burst. At LONG last, Waikiki Edition has a legit website where we can hunt down more information about the first hotel from the brand created by Marriott Hotels and Ian Schrager.

The good news is, obviously, the hotel has a website with renderings (strictly drawings, nothing CGI) and some cool new info like the hotel's nightclub which will be called Crazybox. The bad news is that Waikiki Edition will not be opening until October. Previously, we had been expecting a July opening.

But for now, we're digging through the website and listing what's popping out at us. Here's what we're liking:

· The nightclub called Crazybox.
· A lobby bar hidden behind a secret passage.
· An EDITION retail shop. We love hotel swag!
· It's a smoke-free hotel.
· Guestrooms will have Frette linens.
· Specially programmed iPods or iPads available to guests.
· COMPLIMENTARY WIFI!

And this is a drawing we did in 5th grade about a vacation we took with our family. Oh wait. No, sorry that's the Waikiki Edition's Private Sunset beach.

What we're not digging is the $28 valet parking fee or the off-site parking fee of $1 per hour. And that this is opening in Hawaii. (Ho-hum.) We are also a little bummed out by the sketches that the hotel has on the website. Could they not computerize a few shots to give us a more realistic idea of what this place will look like? Sure we know what it looks like on the outside, but we're dying to see the interiors.

The website says "Entrance"but your guess is as good as ours here.

Nevertheless, we're looking forward to seeing this hotel FINALLY open, after so much anticipation. And it looks like we won't have to wait that long for the second Edition (heh.) Marriott also announced the opening of Istanbul Edition which is set for later this year.

This property actually sounds way more like what we expected from a Schrager-Marriott partnership. There will be a Cipriani restaurant on-site, an ESPA spa, private check-in, luxury retail shops and a screening room for first-run movies and private screenings. Now we're talking!

We'll be spending the rest of the day reveling in the latest news from Edition. But if you've got any scoop about the Waikiki or the Istanbul Edition, let us know in comments below! Or if you wanna be our Deep Throat Edition, send us an email!

EditionHotels.com Too!

Marriott also launched EditionHotels.com into an actual website now. It also provides "coming soon" hotels - mexico city, istanbul, barcelona and bangkok - although it doesnt give any dates.

The website for the Waikiki Edition on EditionHotels.com provides ALOT more information that the website from marriott.com

LuxuryGroup.com has it right

Regarding The Waikiki Edition and its re-branding due to pending lawsuit, I checked on Luxury Group's website and they have already updated the name of the hotel and the website seems to go to the website of the new property as well.
