Aloft Hotels to Open Across the Pond With Aloft ExCeL (Yes, ExCeL)

It looks like Thompson Hotels isn't the only one with London on the brain. Aloft Hotels has just announced their own London property--Aloft London ExCeL.

Wait. What? Aloft ExCeL? Is this some cruel grammar and style joke? And is this hotel in anyway related to Microsoft?

No, actually it's neither a joke nor related to Microsoft. The 252-room hotel will be located at ExCeL London, the international exhibition and convention center in the Docklands area of the city. And the Aloft will open in late 2011, just in time for the 2012 Olympics.

It will be the first Aloft in the UK and the second in Europe after the Aloft Brussels Schuman which is expected to open this fall. And Aloft UK will be very much like Aloft America.

The Aloft London ExCeL will also offer atmospheric public spaces where guests can mix and mingle, read the paper, work on laptops, play a game of pool or grab a drink with friends at the re:mixSM communal lobby area and w xyzSM bar. In addition, the hotel will boast re:fuel by Aloft, a one-stop, 24-hour grab & go food and beverage area, offering sweet, savoury and healthy food, snacks and beverages. The re:chargeSM fitness centre and splash pool will give travellers options to de-stress and re-energise.

Up in the rooms you can expect the large walk-in showers, oversized windows, a comfortable bed, 42" flat-screen TV and best of all, free WiFi. Brilliant!

Now, when we find the W London in Leicester Square to be too much of a drain on our wallet, we can pop over to the Aloft instead. But do we really have to spel ExCeL like that every time?
