Welcome to our regular feature, Pitch Your Hotel, where we let hoteliers, general managers and other hotel execs tell us on-camera what makes their hotels so different from all the rest. And believe us, the competition is fierce these days. So sit back, relax and listen to them explain why their hotels are worthy of your hard-earned dollars or rewards points.
Having to pitch a luxury hotel is never a hard thing to do and when your property is the Peninsula Hong Kong which boasts two towers--the original building and a modern tower, customized in-room technology system, a full-service ESPA spa, killer harbour views and a fleet of exotic cars (plus one helicopter!), there's not much else you need to say.
But the hotel's general manager Rainy Chan lets us know the hotel isn't just a flashy place to sleep for the night.
The hotel is the oldest luxury five-star hotel in Hong Kong but with rooms brought fully into the 21st century. Hello, TVs above the bathtub! The hotel also has a dedicated longtime staff serving its guests, including one staffer who has been there for 52 years. The hotel itself is 82 years old.
But of course, with room rates starting around $873 for a suite, you might as well go ahead and take advantage of the availability of 14 Rolls Royce Phantoms and two custom Mini-Coopers at the hotel. Superior rooms begin at around $530 a night.
