The news (and the partying) never ends at The Standard New York. When the beautiful people and those who love them aren't in the Boom Boom Room at The Top of The Standard, they're dining in the Standard Grill below, or they're grabbing a cocktail by the small bar with an envious view of lower Manhattan. Last night however, Andre Balazs debuted the piece de resistance—an Astroturf-covered roofdeck, which—united with the pool bar below it—has been dubbed Le Bain at The Standard.

And if you thought it was difficult to get into the Boom Boom Room (and you'd be right), you'll be happy to hear that Le Bain is designed to be the antidote, a more relaxed and chill environment and experience, as evidenced by the lawn chairs and a menu featuring Pop Chips. It's not the first time we've infiltrated the pool bar—see previous stories here and here—but it's everybody's first time up in the open air on the roof.

Guests are welcomed to swim in the pool during the bar's opening hours of 12pm-4am, with drinks and small bites served that whole time. The only exception is that the roof deck will stop serving at midnight, and guests should check to see if the bars have been reserved for private events before banking on hitting up the pool.

We dropped by the official opening party last night, and aside from breezing by Olivia Palermo, Christian Siriano and Susan Sarandon, we managed to take a seat on the "lawn" and drink in the view, along with a few flutes of champagne. Sadly we hit the road before the rumored topless ladies paddled around in the pool, but we saw all there was to see and let us tell you this: when Parisian nightlife legend Andre Saraiva of Le Baron takes over Le Bain for a few nights a week in the near future, you can expect much more freewheeling fun than just a few exposed boobs in the pool.

i like!

the fake grass seems a little cheesy but definitely not as cheesy as we first thought it would be. also i remember walking through that rooftop area when there was nothing there. so cool to see it transformed!
