The audiences at 'Showtime at the Apollo' are notoriously tough, but yesterday's crowd at the Harlem theater is known for loving a good talent show. Yes, the Starwood HR folks were at it again, this time casting staff for the new Aloft Harlemwhich is now opening on August 19.

The hotel's sales and marketing director Aleks Truglio told the New York Times that yesterday's auditions were all about finding "people who are sassy, savvy, outgoing — the people who love working with other people and who embrace human contact.”

Around 75 people showed up to mingle with Starwood execs and get into the groove with dancers from the Hip Hop Culture Club and Harlem Hospital Dance Leadership Program. (That would be the folks getting down in the photo up top—although we'd love to say that this is how people show up for job interviews in New York City...)

Only around 25 will make the cut, but they'll join an energetic team that will be greeting guests at check-in with an "Aloha," rather than a boring old "welcome" or "good morning."

The Harlem hotel will be the first Aloft for NYC, with a Brooklyn outpost set to follow in October.

They're not taking reservations yet, but we'll let you know as soon as room rates are available.
