Dear Magic Hotel Opening 8 Ball: Will The Cipriani South Beach Open This Summer?

Answer: NOT LIKELY.

It was not a good day for Italians today as the Word Cup champions were booted early from this year's tournament by Slovakia. And it doesn't look like this will be a good summer for another Italian, The Cipriani Miami.

The last report we had was that the hotel would open this summer, although back in December that was a shaky prediction. However, when our own MsRebecca drove by the Cipriani last month she said the building was still an empty shell. Uh-oh. And it doesn't help that one of the developers, Flavio Braviatore, has been accused by the Italian government of evading taxes, which he denied, of course.

So yeah, we won't count on this one happening for a while now. Maybe like 2012?
