Trump Chicago Will Light Its Spire Tonight

The other week when we were taking in the sights of Chicago, we found our focal point always being drawn to the Trump Chicago International Hotel and Tower .
We couldn't help it! This hotel is, in typical Trump fashion, massive and showy, not to mention the sixth-tallest building in the world. It nearly dominates the skyline, especially with that spire on top. Coincidentally, we learned today that the hotel's spire will be lit up tonight for the first time.
Chicago Tribune's
CityScapes blog reports:
Shortly after sunset at 8:29 p.m., newly-installed, energy-efficient LED lights will illuminate the spire atop the riverfront hotel and condominium tower, which is Chicago’s second-tallest building. They will color the 227-foot-tall spire in red, white and blue, honoring Independence Day. The color scheme will continue through July 11.
We also think the red, white and blue scheme is fitting for today because USA WON THEIR GROUP IN THE WORLD CUP! USA! USA! USA!
Ahem. Sorry, we got a little carried away there. Anyways, the colors will typically be solid white lights except for holidays and special occasions. The hotel was officially completed on May 1 and all that's left to do is throw a huge opening party attended by The Donald himself. Room rates are typically Trumpian, starting at $475 a night for a spa deluxe king room this weekend.
