The WalkAbout before its sunburn.
"It was awful," said City Commissioner Richard Blattner, who almost choked on his breakfast at the Marriott Hotel next door after seeing the little hotel's transformation.
Despite getting city approval for the paint job, the 8-room WalkAbout is now at the center of a fierce debate about the color.
Detractors complain that the transformation from lime green to hot pink (technically, "desire pink," "fussy pink," and "deep deep pink") doesn't sit with Hollywood's history. Some even joked that Jimmy Hoffa, who supposedly used the joint as a hideout, would be rolling in his grave if he saw the hotel's new look.
Of course, we're all for Pink Hotels. Even more so when their rooms start at $159 a night.
City talks about whether or not the color will be changed are still underway.
