We don't see an Airstream in this picture UrbanDaddy posted of the new rooftop bar at The Standard NYC, but those pink blobs? They're waterbeds. How's that for classy?

Now, we're not sure if the Airstream is still on the way or not (perhaps Courtney is shackin' up in it?), but even with its presence, we can't believe that this is poised to be New York's hottest new outdoor drinking scene.

The bar is still in soft-opening mode this week, and will become huge, no doubt— but should it? Doesn't this look a little tacky? Is it really up to the, uh, standard set by the hotel beneath it?

We thought that whole beds-in-nightclubs trend was dunzo, and while we're all for simple, this bare set-up just looks dreary. Sure, it will look different with hordes of hipsters crammed around those picnic tables and models draped over the waterbeds, but... artificial turf? Really? (Besides, the models won't be able to sit in those pink chairs unless they throw some cushions in. That design leaves indentations on bare legs. Did no one think of the models??)

We hope there's more to this bar than meets the eye, because this faux-trailer-park chic vibe is one that dates fast. And, frankly, we expect more from Andre. (Yes, even post-Courtney.)

models and legs

If there are models ill go even with indentations on the legs and elsewhere

What?

Unless you want to portray the Standard as a brothel from the 1940's, waterbeds and AstroTurf really aren't doing them any favors.
