It's been more than a few years since the Hotel Gansevoort was the hot hotel of the moment, and with so many NYC Hotel Openings this summer, including its own sister, the Gansevoort Park Avenue South, it was time for the MePa flagship to do some maintenance where it counts: right inside the front doors.

The overhaul by ICRAVE, the design team responsible for the hotel's club Provocateur, includes a new cafe called Carte Blanche with sidewalk dining, and a vintage pool table straight out of your folks' 1970s rec room.

Sorta. While the vibe of the entire space is meant to be '70s decadence', the pool table is actually a 1950s Brunswick number. It's surrounded by leather chairs and wooden side tables—and backed by the Carte Blanche Café, which is now open from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. Sundays to Wednesdays, and 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Thursdays to Saturdays. (Coffee nuts, take note: they serve La Colombe coffee exclusively.)

OK, so coffee and a new pool table isn't quite as exciting as the Park Ave property's new rooftop pool, but we have to say we like this development for the O.G. Gansevoort.

Have you dropped into Carte Blanche yet? Maybe after crawling out of a nearby club in the wee hours of the morn? Drop us a line and give us the skinny on the scene. Pool scores not required.
